Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.
Hours are published for 5 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 amβ5 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (717) 367-8324. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, autotechlancaster.com.

Lancaster is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Lancaster is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Called auto tech to get an oil change and replace my brakes that were very overdue and they very kindly got me in quickly. The front desk staff are wonderful and very nice. Naturally, it ended up being more work than expected but I knew it had to get done. My hood latch has been finicky for a little bit now (but Iβve never had issues with other mechanics). I got a call that my hood was broken and dangerous to drive- I suddenly needed a new radiator frame ($$$). I denied the work. Upon picking up the car, I realized my hood no longer shut at allβ¦. They did not even mention to me how they broke the piece, and while they did a good job with my brakes and oil. Since writing this review, they have since reached out to reconcile the issue which I appreciate, but Iβve gotten it fixed by welding rather than a new part. Iβm upset with how the issue was communicated without any additional options for repair.

Our company had a van break down. I called AutoTech to see if they could help us out of a jam. They had the tow truck there within 30 minutes. They got us a quote and had the repairs done quickly. Communication was excellent. A very smooth process. Thank you for you help and professionalism.

Recently my ex had gotten into a car accident and needed his car to be repaired. The workers from AutoTech were in contact with him every step of the way letting him know what he should expect from the insurance company. The entire time the staff were extremely kind, reasonable and helpful looking to make sure that he got his car back as soon as possible and did an amazing job detailing and making his car look new again. He says that his car actually looks nicer that when he first bought it after all the repairs and replacements. Overall would recommend them 10/10. (AutoTech in the Ephrata location also is has great service, have gone there as well for general car maintenance. Pricing is good.)
